I’ve been writing a lot of mood-of-the-scroll posts lately — what a Monday reset feels like, what August does to a feed. Good to write, but it’s been a while since I just talked about the product itself. So: what’s shipped, what’s next, and what actually got there because someone told me it should.
What’s Shipped Recently
Nothing flashy, mostly things that were annoying enough to finally fix. Swipe responsiveness got tightened up — there was a lag on fast swipes that only showed up on certain devices, and it took embarrassingly long to track down because it didn’t reproduce consistently on mine. Image loading got smarter about prioritizing what’s actually in view instead of eagerly loading the next several posts down, which was quietly burning data for anyone scrolling on mobile networks.
Neither of these is a feature. Both of them are the kind of thing that makes the app feel like it works instead of almost working.
What’s Next
Saved posts, done properly. Right now there’s no real way to bookmark something mid-scroll and come back to it — you either remember the subreddit or you don’t. This has been the single most requested thing since Redinfinite came back, and it’s next.
Multi-subreddit feeds. Right now you scroll one subreddit at a time. A combined feed — pick a handful of subreddits, get one merged scroll — is the most natural next step and honestly should’ve come sooner.
Better empty states. Small thing, but when a subreddit is quiet or a search comes up empty, the app currently just looks broken. That’s a bad look for something whose whole pitch is “it just works.”
None of this is locked to a date. It’s a solo project, and things move when I have the time to move them, not on a quarterly schedule.
What Feedback Actually Shaped
The multi-subreddit feed idea wasn’t mine originally — a handful of people who use Redinfinite as their main way of following a specific set of niche interests kept asking for exactly this, independently of each other, which is usually the signal that something’s actually worth building rather than a one-off request.
The image loading fix came from someone pointing out their data usage looked wrong for an app that’s supposedly lightweight. I hadn’t thought to check. They were right.
This is most of why I like keeping this blog going, honestly — not the traffic, the accountability. Writing “here’s what’s next” in public makes it a lot harder to quietly let a request sit for six months.
The Bottom Line
Redinfinite is still one person building in the gaps between everything else. The roadmap above is real, not aspirational filler — saved posts and multi-subreddit feeds are both things I actually want for my own use of the app, which is usually the best predictor of what actually ships.
If there’s something you want that’s not on this list, say so. That’s still how most of this gets prioritized.
